En verano no puedes ponerte enfermo. Ni contraer una infección. Ni hacerte una cirugía que tenías programada hace meses y que es necesaria para ti. En verano pones en pausa tu salud, tus problemas, tus derechos. Éste parece ser el mensaje de la Conselleria de Sanidad que, durante tres meses, hará vacaciones de sus responsabilidades con la ciudadanía, ya que han decidido postergar operaciones, eliminar turnos y guardias del personal e incluso cerrar servicios como los de detección de enfermedades infecciosas en los hospitales y en CAPs de Barcelona, hasta septiembre. Unos recortes que llegan paradójicamente en un momento de la historia en el que Catalunya cuenta con más presupuesto, un presupuesto que debería notarse en los servicios públicos en cualquier estación del año.
Desgraciadamente, tampoco nos sorprende: estas decisiones son el último aliento de un gobierno que, durante 3 años, no ha sabido aprovechar la oportunidad de oro para reforzar y blindar la sanidad pública que supuso la pandemia de la COVID-19, y que nos ha enseñado el rol fundamental de los profesionales y servicios de la salud en nuestras vidas. En vez de eso, se ha dedicado a cerrar servicios de pediatría por todo el territorio, a reducir el número de camas en los hospitales y a no renovar el contrato de muchísimos profesionales de la salud necesarios debido a la alta demanda ciudadana. Unos recortes que ya han llevado a la calle a entidades, sindicatos, profesionales y usuarios, escandalizados por la precarización de la sanidad pública.
Durante el pasado mandato, desde el gobierno de Els Comuns en el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona tuvimos que arrancar el acuerdo para construir los once CAPs que la Generalitat debía a la ciudad y, lejos de rendirnos, apostamos por ampliar la cartera de servicios de salud, a pesar de no contar con las competencias para poder llegar allá donde la Generalitat se había rendido. Abrimos un dentista y un psicólogo públicos, creamos un servicio de acompañamiento en salud mental y física para las trabajadoras de las curas y garantizamos el acompañamiento sanitario a personas en situación de drogodependencia, entre otras medidas.
Pero, así como las necesidades sanitarias no descansan durante el verano, tampoco lo hace la ciudadanía, ni los colectivos profesionales comprometidos con la salud y el bienestar, y en las próximas semanas al Gobierno le espera un verano calentito: sindicatos de enfermeras, colectivos de pacientes y otros profesionales ya han convocado protestas ante el ICS y se organizan para no permitir unos recortes escondidos de vacaciones veraniegas. Barcelona en Comú también estaremos apoyando a los usuarios y profesionales, desde las instituciones y desde las calles, y reivindicaremos que la política debe ser una herramienta al servicio de la gente, una herramienta para mejorar la vida de la ciudadanía, una herramienta que no descansa ni en verano ni durante ninguna fecha. Debemos poder encontrar otras formas de gestionar los problemas de la sanidad pública, consensuadamente con la comunidad sanitaria, sea la estación del año que sea.
